Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Night Shift

The Lutheran Home is seeking a compassionate full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a 12-hour night shift, offering a predictable two-week schedule and the chance to make a real difference in our healthcare community, which includes a designated hospice unit, rehab-to-home, long-term care, and memory care. Guided by our values of service, excellence, dignity, fulfillment, grace, and stewardship, we provide a supportive environment where both experienced LPNs and new graduates can grow professionally while delivering exceptional, compassionate care every night. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Provide skilled professional nursing care as prescribed by the physician, in compliance with State Board of Nursing regulations and Lutheran Home policies.
Obtain and relay necessary information from the off-going nurse for resident care follow-up.
Verify narcotic/controlled medication counts.
Give daily reports/instructions and assign tasks to nursing assistants.
Supervise nurse aides to ensure quality care and adherence to protocols.
Monitor dining rooms during mealtimes to ensure proper diet and assistance for residents.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents and document care, medications, and treatments.
Perform and document admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed.
Observe residents for changes in condition and report to physicians, families and nursing staff.
Obtain and update physician orders as necessary.
Provide education to residents and families on medical issues, including disease process, medications, and safety.
Respond quickly to emergencies, initiating life-saving measures when needed.
Address resident, family, or physician concerns, and reporting issues to the Unit Manager or Shift Supervisor.
Promote a positive team culture, fostering respect and open communication.

This full-time position follows a consistent two-week schedule, where you work 7 out of every 14 days – including a three-day weekend off every other week.
Available shift:

Night shift: 6:45 pm to 7:15 am

Education Requirements:

Current unrestricted LPN license in the State of Missouri (or eligibility for licensure)
CPR certification
Experience with PCC preferred
