Dining Services Coordinator

The Lutheran Home is looking for a Dining Services Coordinator to join our caring assisted living community. If you love creating a welcoming dining experience, supporting a small, close-knit team, and brightening residents’ days, this is a role where your work truly makes a difference. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a working supervisor by participating in meal service while leading daily dining operations
- Create staff schedules, assign tasks, and ensure coverage for all meal services
- Supervise and coach staff, monitor performance, and address day-to-day operational issues
- Oversee proper portioning and service of meals according to diet orders and resident preferences
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, labeling, rotation, and storage standards
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and dining environment
- Communicate food needs and quantities, and promptly address concerns to ensure meals are prepared and delivered as required
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment
Schedule: Full-time, scheduled within kitchen operating hours of 6:00 a.m - 6:30 p.m. Shifts will vary and may include early or later shifts during the week, as well as weekends and holidays, based on coverage needs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in dining services, food service, or hospitality; senior living or healthcare experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling
- Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lead daily operations and support team members effectively
- Ability to lift and carry food items and supplies as needed
- Comfortable using basic technology for scheduling or meal tracking
- Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Self-directed, dependable, and able to work with minimal supervision
