Providence Hospice at The Lutheran Home is seeking a compassionate and experienced physician to serve as Hospice Medical Director (part-time), providing clinical leadership and support to our interdisciplinary hospice team. This role is ideal for a physician who is passionate about quality end-of-life care, patient dignity, and collaborative care planning.

This is a contracted physician role structured as an independent contractor (1099) position.

• Conduct face-to-face visits for hospice patients (approximately 8–10 patients per month) in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Participate in a bi-weekly interdisciplinary team (IDT) meeting (approximately 1-1.5 hour meetings)
• Provide clinical oversight and guidance to the hospice care team
• Review and approve plans of care, ensuring they meet patient needs and compliance standards
• Certify and recertify hospice eligibility in accordance with Medicare guidelines
• Confirm and authorize physician orders for medications, treatments, and interventions
• Collaborate with attending physicians, nurse practitioners, and hospice staff to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Be available for consultation on complex patient care needs as required

• MD or DO with an active, unrestricted medical license
• Board certification in a relevant specialty (preferred)
• Experience in hospice and palliative care strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations and compliance standards
• Strong communication and collaborative skills

• Part-time role with flexible scheduling
• Combination of on-call remote messages and in-person visits
