The Lutheran Home is seeking a dedicated, full-time Cook to prepare well-balanced, thoughtfully prepared meals for our residents in our health center. This role supports a variety of meal preparation needs, contributing to both daily dining and fresh, high-quality menu offerings. Mealtime is often the highlight of the day-a time for connection-and our cooks play an important role in creating meals that residents look forward to and enjoy. Previous experience is helpful, but we’re happy to train someone who is dependable, eager to learn, and motivated to make a meaningful difference each day.


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare quality food products in large quantities for regular and modified diets according to menus
  • Ensure food is safely prepared, stored, and served at proper temperatures
  • Portion and present food attractively and consistently
  • Support a positive, team-oriented environment in Dining Services
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely, reporting any issues
  • Keep the kitchen clean and follow sanitation guidelines
  • Meet resident dietary needs and preferences
  • Minimize food waste and properly rotate, label, and store food
  • Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum age of 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous institutional cooking experience with an emphasis on large quantity preferred
  • Food Safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and carry food items and supplies as needed

Schedule:
  • This is a full-time position, typically scheduled Thursday through Sunday, including weekends, with shifts from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
