Salad and Prep Cook - Full-Time

The Lutheran Home is looking for a Full-time Salad and Prep Cook to join our healthcare community.  In this role, you’ll prepare fresh salads, desserts, and other menu items while ensuring proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food for both regular and modified diets, following standardized recipes and menu guidelines, At the heart of our work, we uphold our values of service, excellence, fulfillment, grace, and stewardship.  If you’re passionate about making a meaningful impact and enjoy working in a collaborative environment, we’d love to have you on our team!

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Prepare salads, desserts, and other menu items in large quantities for regular and modified diets
• Follow standardized recipes and ensure quality, consistency, and attractive presentation of food
• Assist residents and families with placing orders on tablets or meal cards
• Serve food in proper portions and monitor food temperatures
• Receive, store, rotate, label, and date food products according to guidelines
• Fill in as the cook in the absence of the primary cook
• Assist with kitchen operations, including stocking, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining equipment and work areas
• Support other kitchen duties and shift to additional positions and/or locations as needed
• Follow all food safety and sanitation standards while maintaining a clean and orderly environment

In this full-time position, you’ll typically work 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday through Sunday, and take part in our many benefits including:

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school graduate or GED preferred
• Previous experience in food preparation, with an emphasis on large quantity cooking preferred
• Institutional cooking experience is desired
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Flexibility and willingness to assist with other kitchen duties as needed
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for providing high-quality meals
